I went the on Celebrity Constellation in Sept 2010. I got an early flight with Aer Lingus to Barcelona, it was 30 Euros for 2 of us with luggage from the airport to the port. Staff took our luggage from us, they are colour coded by deck - if you want to swim or sunbathe or go to the spa keep your things in your hand luggage. We had done online checkin which really speeds everything up at the port - staff just check your set-sail pass and your passports and on you go. There was a lot of staff trying to sell drinks & spa packages to people before they got on - I would either pre-book these online or wait till you get on and take some time to read the literature properly to see what package is better for you. We were greeted onboard with a glass of champagne and the buffet restaurant had everthing you could want, for breakfast there were cereals, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit & yoghurt. Then lunch was Indian, Thai, Chinese, pizza, pasta, salads and dinner was roasts, steak, burgers etc... with all the trimmings. The pool bar had snacks like nachos, ribs, fries & cookies. There were tea/coffee/water/juice stations at different locations. 4 out of the 7 nights we ate in the main dining room where our waiter Sudanta from the Phillipines treated us like princesses :) We ate in the speciality restaurant Tuscan Grille one of the nights and it was one of the nicest meals I've ever had - calamari, filet mignon & chocolate fondue...cruising is not good for the waistline! When ordering drinks etc you have the option to write in a tip for the server, as your pre-paid gratuities go to your head waiter and cabin steward. Drinks weren't much more expensive than Dublin - approximately $5 for a Corona and $7 for a glass of Prosecco. Each night in the main dining room photographers take photos and they are displayed in the art gallery then where you can buy a copy. Shopping was good - Guess bags, cosmetics, perfume, jewellery and some clothing. I had a mini facial, body scrub and back massage in the spa which was bliss and only cost $90. The weather in the Med that time of year was fantastic. I would definitely recommend a cruise to see the Med but also for pure relaxation - sunbathing, going to the spa and eating good food :)
sort you out.

The Disney Dream is exactly that... a Dream! It does 3, 4 and 5 night Bahamian cruises, stopping at Nassau and Castaway Cay (which is Disneys private island),
its got cabanas, bbq, snorkelling, pools for children, teens & adults and massage areas. I loved the ship, I thought it would be bright and tacky with lots
of kids running around screaming but it wasn't at all! There are lots of adult-only areas and its not too "Disney-fied" but the bits that are make you go
There are 6 restaurants, 11 bars, 5 pools and 7 kids clubs for different ages, as well as a cinema, theatre, shops and meeting facilities. Disney use "rotational dining" which means you eat in one of 3 different restaurants every night. There are 2 sittings and the guests with children are put on early dining so adults without children can dine together and the kids can go to the show afterwards if they want.
The 3 dining rooms are the Animators Palette, where characters are drawn all over the walls & it has a short dinner show where 3D Disney characters speak to you while you eat :), Then theres the Royal Palace which is lovely, decorated in gold and white, with Cinderellas glass slippers on the light fittings and murals of the different Disney princesses on the walls :) The bread baskets are even little pumpkin carriages! Then theres the Enchanted Garden which is beautiful, inspired by the gardens of Versailles, like sitting outdoors. Its decorated in green and white with creepers growing through the white beams of the ceiling and a fountain in the centre with Mickey Mouse. There are tables and then curved booths for families that look like waltzers :)
Regarding cabins, there are ocean views with large windows then balcony cabins with verandahs. Family ocean views and verandahs have double beds that fold down from the wall but would still be a little tight on space. The beds are elevated for more luggage space :) Staff will decorate cabins for birthdays and you can arrange for gifts to be left in the cabin for guests too. 88% OF THE CABINS ARE OCEANVIEWS AND 90% of these have a veranda, there are plenty of interconnecting cabins for families. All cabins have wave phones you can bring out to port with you.
The concierge level is just fabulous - living room, bedroom, walk in wardbrobes, 2 bathrooms including one with a jacuzzi - I couldn't stay in the other cabins after seeing these! You will have a dedicated concierge line for all your needs, even before you travel! Restaurant reservations, seating requests, shore excursions, spa bookings etc. Concierge class also have a private lounge and sundeck on deck 12 with cocktails, refreshments, tv & internet.
There are 2 shows in the theatre every night. There are 5 pools - adults only, children & teens. Aquaduck is the first water slide at sea & its huge! Theres also a fitness centre and sports deck with basketball, golf, volleyball etc... 7 kids clubs on board for all ages - including Vibe, a nightclub for teenagers & an arcade. The Spa is huge and offers so many different treatments, products used onboard are Elemis. There is also a hairdressers, barbers and teen spa!! 11 bars & lounges onboard - Pink, Skyline, Meridian and the nightclub Evolution are adults only but children can go to the other with their parents for food etc.
we'll make your dream a reality.

The most beautiful voyage of your life!! Norway and the Fjords. Hurtigruten which means "fast route" in Norwegian, presented me with the most beautiful trip ever. My journey in March. From Dublin I flew to Tromso via Oslo with SAS. Great flight, those guys know their business, slick Airline and very well organized. When we arrived in Scandinavia, it was cold, but my mind was completely away from cold weather as I was on my way to do Dog Sledging, one of Excursions from Hurtigruten. This was outstanding, we had so much fun. Amazing experience to drive sledge with those 5 great dogs in front of you! After a nice meal and warm drink and we jumped on a bus that dropped us to the port. I then joined Hurtigruten on the Trollfjord (ship) and we sailed away from Tromso down South. The ship was a lot nicer then what I had expected. The cabins were a good size as Interior cabins go, food was really nice, had a couple of bars and a coffee shop, a lot of nice alcoves and view points so you can relax, maybe have a read, listen to some music and watch the world go by. On board there were around 680 passengers, and all staff were so nice, really helpful and always served you with a smile. The dream then started. Norway has, along the coast, 34 ports of call. During this expedition, you visit some beautiful towns, and during those you can do excursions like the Ice Bar, Ice Hotel, Husky and Reindeer sledge, King Crab safari, bird watching, snow scooter trips or safaris, visit museums and amazing cathedrals. During the next 3 days only my photos can describe this amazing trip from Tromso to Trondheim including the Fjords. Mother nature provided me with the entertainment. Beautiful scenery all the way down the coast. I got to learn that Scandinavia in general is beautiful but especially Norway, as their coast is just outstanding and guarantees you with the trip or voyage of a lifetime. Huge thank you to Hurtigruten and their staff for this amazing experience. Those guys do a great job, not only providing you with a trip of a lifetime, but also in helping several communities along the coast delivering goods etc.

I just back from a Baltic Cruise, which was 'the best holiday I have ever had'. I flew with Scandinavian Airlines with no problems. the online check in was very easy and I had no delays. The sights were amazing, the food was fantastic and the staff and entertainment were excellent. As good as the onboard entertainment was the shore excursion to see the fjords was the highlight of the trip. The weather was beautiful, one day was a bit windy but I didnt notice much movement at all onboard the cruise ship. Copenhagen was a very easy city to get around due to the great Metro serice, it really was a beautiful city, very friendly people.

I was lucky enough to spend a week on an excellent Mediterranean cruise this year. I sailed out of Genoa on the brand new MSC Splendida. Ship itself was great, with several swimming pools, big casino, and many cake and coffee shops. My favorite place was little coffee shop that looked like a plaza in the middle of Italian city, with gellato on the corner and fountain in the middle of it. Ports we got to see were absolutely breathtaking. Marseilles had really nice port with the fresh market selling olivs, almonds, different cookies, liquor and spices. Then Barcelona, which I cannot wait to go back and see it again. We traveled to Sicily and Malta as well, finishing in the Eternal city of Rome. There was something priceless in the experience of eating pizza just outside of the Coliseum. I really liked the dynamic of cruising, with each day spent in the different place and easy nights with magnificent 5 course dinners, shows and casino until the early hours. I can't wait to go again, just need to decide where to go this time!

Standing in front of this huge floating vessel was just amazing.
It was my first time to ever see a cruise ship and I was completely in awe. On May 3rd I was lucky enough to partake on my first cruise which was onboard the fabulous MSC Poesia.
I checked in online so embarkation was quick and easy. I loved that my bags were taken from me and I was free to board the ship. Once onboard we were greeted by dozens of smiling faces and I was wow’d by the interior and decor of the ship. The atrium was elegant with fairy lights sprinkled across it and we greeted by soft music lulling us into our awaiting relaxed state.
The Poesia was at full capacity while I was onboard and although there were 3,000 of us on the ship I never once felt it was over crowded. Ship facilities included the usuals such as gorgeous swimming pool areas, casinos, a gorgeous theater, bars and restaurants. But it had the extras to, an outdoor cinema, an Italian ice cream bar (where I spent my days!) and an amazing spa.
I would also really recommend the €23 a day drinks package which can be pre-booked. Having such a package at such good value meant I had my money to enjoy onboard in the numerous shops, the amazing spa and shopping in the ports of call.
Onboard, I had a balcony cabin and I loved it. It was spacious, comfortable and modern. My favorite part was being able to sit out on the balcony and watch as sailed into the various ports in the morning time, the sun was shining and hearing the water lapping against the side of the ship was so peaceful. I could have sat there forever and it was in those moments on my private balcony that I realised I was about to become a regular cruiser.
Following my incredible first time cruise experience, I would definitely recommend an MSC cruise. The staff were amazing, the food onboard was amazing, the ships are stunning and they are such amazing value.
To conclude, as a (very young) first time cruiser who had all the same misconceptions as many would now confidently book another cruise. They are an incredible way to holiday and waking up somewhere new every day is brilliant. This was definitely my favorite part. Oh, and being treated like a princess...

Just back from a spectacular 2 day seminar at sea on Celebrity Constellation and while all is still fresh in my mind thought I would share some of the highlights with you.
I flew ex Cork to Amsterdam 0600 hrs flight ( nice and early !!! ) scheduled arrival time in Amsterdam 0845 hrs ( flight took off at 0620hrs but still made it in 1 hr 20 mins ) which was great for all the panicked passengers onboard who had onward connections to the US as we still landed at the scheduled time. I was able to meet up with my travel companion the lovely Miss Tracy McLoughlin very easily as the Dublin flight arrived at the same time so all went very smoothly .
Word of warning there are 2 cruise ports in Amsterdam so just make sure you know which one you need to go to and explain well to the taxi driver as they can easily mix them up. Once we got to the terminal it was all very easy to figure out where to go we boarded nice and early as boarding started from 11 am and we got there around 10 am. Lovely hotel right at the port, the Movenpick for people who may want to fly the night before Dublin - Amsterdam and stay at the port as boarding is early on the Constellation as is the departure of the ship is 1630 hrs so for ease and hassle free this is a good choice of hotel.
WOW!, huge terminal with plenty of check in desks, very easy and quick to get through, though we were early which may have helped. I did get talking to other people who arrived later betweem 1 and 2 pm at the terminal and said it was crazy so would definitely advise early arrival if you want to make sure your holiday starts in a relaxing manner.
Once onboard we were lucky to have the first day to explore the ship on our own as our group were not meeting until the evening. We only had to wait until 1 pm for our cabin to be ready and once we had walked in our lovely cabin steward arrived with our bags so again very efficient. We stayed on Deck 2 in an ocean view stateroom with port hole and I was delighted and surprised at the size and also it was a large port hole plenty of light and really airy would def recommend as it was very comfortable and roomy. I have attached a pic to give you an idea.!!
Muster drill was carried out just before we set sail and then up to Deck 10 to wave goodbye to Amsterdam.
Courtesy of Celebrity cruise lines we had a cocktail party in the Rendezvous Lounge Deck 4 on our first evening with champers and cocktails supplied by Celebrity /Royal Caribbean and had a welcome talk from our host Leon and really just a chance to meet the other guests lucky enough to be onboard for your 2 day trip, then it was into the lovely formal dining room San Marco where we dined as a group, fabulous food and huge menu, lots of choices for every possible taste.
From then on it was 'plain sailing', excuse the pun :-) We simply kicked back and enjoyed this stunning ship and although our trip was short, we did get to experience all the Celebrity Constellation has to offer, amazing dining, plenty of activities to both old and young happy and a real sense of being in the lap of luxury.
Arrived in Southampon at 4 AM but luckily as we were carrying off our own bags and transfering ourselves to southhampton airport the last call for passengers to be off the ship was nearly 9.30 am so not too bad as our flight was with FLYBe Southhampton to Dublin at 1420 hrs. so not too long to wait, I'd advise anyone taking this cruise to do likewise and avail of that extra bit in bed, you'll thank me for it. A fleet of taxis at southampton port were waiting for us, apparantely it's big business for them so no problems there and 15 mins approx to airport so nice and quick (and cheap). I know Royal Caribbean /Celebrity cruises provide transfers to London Heathrow but if you want to price cheaper flights yourselves, Flybe into and out of Southampton do match up with nearly all the cruises giving plent of time on arrival and also on the return so a good option as an alternative and no real hassle in doing it this way either.
ALL IN ALL A MEMORABLE AND FUN 2 DAYS. I'd fully recommend this short but ideal cruise across to the Dutch capitol.
THANKS A MILLION Celebrity but most of all Cruise Holidays for making it all happen.
